It’s that time of the year again! The sea village of Portovenere gets ready to celebrate its local Patron Saint – the Madonna Bianca – on the night of August 17th.

During the festival, the entire fishing village is lit up with over 2000 roman torches, including Byron’s Grotto and the rocky spur of Punta San Pietro. A traditional procession carrying the icon of the Virgin Mary takes place through the flower-decorated streets of the village.

You can enjoy the spectacle anywhere around town. But if you are looking for an incredibly panoramic spot with a dining option, head over to Palmaria Restaurant at the boutique Grand Hotel Portovenere. The restaurant offers a special buffet menu on this occasion. Its large terrace overlooking the harbor and the historic center is ideal for appreciating this incredible night in Portovenere!
