Wellbeing in Portovenere. In Italy, March is known as “marzo pazzerello” (kind-of-crazy March), because occasional rains welcome the arrival of the sunny days and blue skies of spring. Luckily, if you are visiting the Gulf of Poets towards the end of March you don’t need to worry about the spring showers as you can enjoy some quality time indoors at Portovenere Wellness. The spa reopens on 26 March and offers you a gym, a humid area with hot tub and sauna, as well as beauty and wellness treatments.

Geography for Children in Levanto. The second edition of “Festival delle Geografie” will take place from 6 to 8 April 2018 in the province of La Spezia, specifically in the towns of Levanto, Bonassola and Framura. It is the only festival dedicated to geography in Italy, and it is dedicated to the illustrious mapmaker Matteo Vinzoni, born and raised between Bonassola and Levanto in the XVIII century. The event includes artistic labs in which young artists sculpt materials that define a territory, such as olive tree wood, white and red marble, and slate; exhibitions of historic maps and geopolitical photographs from the Palazzo Ducale di Genova; boat and bike excursions.
Near the Gulf of Poets: Davis Cup in Genoa. The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men’s tennis. It will take place from 6 to 8 April 2018 at Valletta Cambiato in Genoa. The last time that Liguria’s capital hosted this tournament was in 2009, when Roger Federer and his team won against Italy.
Vintage Cars in Portovenere and Lerici. Portovenere is part of an extraordinary journey along the thousand-year old roads of Matilde di Canossa, Queen of Italy in the 12th Century. On 20 April 2018, the “Terre di Canossa – International Classic Cars Challenge” will pass by Portovenere at lunch time and later in Lerici around 5:30pm.
“Astrid Kirchherr with the Beatles” from 15 April to 17 June at Fondazione Carispezia (via D. Chiodo 36, La Spezia). Through Kirchherr’s photos, the exhibition features the history of The Beatles early years in Hamburg, the so called “Hamburg Days”. The German photographer, who was a student at the time and the assistant of the famous photographer Reinhard Wolf, first met The Beatles in 1960 at the Kiserkeller club where the young English bands used to play for little money. Kirchherr not only took photos of the band when it was still at its beginnings, but also deeply influenced the style of The Beatles introducing them to the existentialist art and literature.
