On Saturday 24 June 2017, the fine wines of New York’s Finger Lakes Country will delight Italian and international wine lovers in Portovenere, the medieval village overlooking the Gulf of Poets next to Cinque Terre.
The venue for this foodie event is Palmaria Restaurant, which features a sublime terrace with panoramic views of the local harbour, of the colourful ancient buildings that are typical of the Italian Riviera, and of the wild Palmaria Island on the opposite side of Portovenere’s sea channel.
Palmaria Restaurant will propose finger-food appetizers paired with wines by Fox Run Vineyards. This family-owned winery overlooks one of the deepest parts of Seneca Lake, with fifty acres of vineyards producing a remarkable range of fine wines. The first grapes were planted in 1984, and in 1990 the Civil War-era dairy barn was converted to a winemaking facility by the founders of Fox Run Vineyards.
The appetizers will include an octopus-skewer with taggiasche olives, and raw red prawns with cream of mountain pasture cheese. If fish is not your thing, don’t worry! A vegetarian option will also be available. The food will blend blissfully with the Traminette and Riesling wines from the Finger Lakes Wine Country, where the terroir is special thanks to the microclimate created by the 11 long, narrow lakes of glacial origin.
The tasting experience starts at 6:00pm, is open to the public and costs 25 euro per person. For more information and reservations, please call +39 0187 777 751 or email palmaria@portoveneregrand.com.
We hope to see you there!
