Imagine walking among the centuries-old olive trees and learning to produce and taste extra virgin olive oil along the Gulf of La Spezia… The “Sentieri Dei Poeti” project embraces a 74-km route that connects various farms along the gulf between the Roman Villa of Varignano (Portovenere) and the Roman City of Luni (Bocca di Magra). This olive oil tourism route intersects hiking itineraries such as the Alta Via del Golfo (AVG).
“Sentieri Dei Poeti” means “paths of the poets”.
The extra virgin olive oil produced in the Gulf of Poets is also called “Sentieri Dei Poeti“. It is a local product of excellence, ready to become an international star!
What are the characteristics of the “Sentieri Dei Poeti” olive oil?
- It is a superior category of olive oil obtained directly from olives and solely by mechanical means.
- The respectful processing of the olives is carried out without adding water and without producing oil waste: it enhances the flavors and aromas while preserving the extra virgin olive oil’s noble components, a vital element of the Mediterranean diet.
- On the palate, the oil is lightly fruity, lightly bitter and medium spicy, harmonious and balanced, with an aftertaste of green apple and fresh almond. It is exceptional if tasted raw and an essential ingredient of all traditional Ligurian recipes such as focaccia, farinata and pesto!
Olive oil experiences between Portovenere and Luni
The farms and olive growers who launched this project offer various experiences to discover the secrets of the Golfo Dei Poeti oil and taste it in an authentic way.
For example, the ‘EVO Lovers‘ experience in the heart of Lunigiana allows you to discover how DOP Riviera Ligure oil is produced in the only ecological Ligurian oil mill equipped with a Protoreactor. By choosing the ‘Poetic Picnic‘, you can relax and indulge while tasting local products among olive groves, cherry trees and vineyards.
You can discover all the experiences and more information on the official website of “Sentieri Dei Poeti“, or follow the project on Facebook or Instagram.
