After the success of the first foodie event featuring American wines back in June, Palmaria Restaurant will host another interesting evening for wine and food lovers. In occasion of the “USA meets Portovenere” aperitif on 20 October 2017, starting from 5pm, you will have the opportunity to discover unusual combinations between American wines and local gastronomy from the Gulf of Poets , Val di Vara and Cinque Terre.
In particular, the wine tastings will involve three different wines – Fox Run Riesling, Fox Run Traminette and Forge Cellars Riesling – all of which come from the Finger Lakes, one of the most important and prestigious American Viticultural Areas in the United States. This AVA is located near the Canadian border in the State of New York, which ranks third in grape production by volume after California and Oregon. The terroir of the Finger Lakes Wine Country is special thanks to the microclimate created by the 11 long, narrow lakes of glacial origin: this area alone has more than 10 wineries cultivating 11.000 acres of vineyards and produces 90% of the wine in the entire NY State.
Chef Francesco Parravicini will delight your taste buds with some delicious finger food prepared mainly with local products from Liguria, including cheese from the organic pastures of Val di Vara. Get ready for skewers with mazzancolla (striped prawn) and herbs; octopus and taggiasche olives; and toasted bread with anchovies and buffalo mozzarella.
