We are glad to report that Portovenere in Liguria was featured on the prestigious “A Luxury Travel Blog”, in one of its most popular sections called Suite of the Week. The beautiful sea-view junior suites of the boutique Grand Hotel Portovenere were picked to appear in the weekly feature. It’s easy to see why…

The Portovenere Junior Suites are spectacular rooms that showcase the beauty of the seaside medieval village on Liguria’s Bay of Poets. Each suite is unique in its characteristics, featuring either a grand terrace under the historic arches of the building, or two separate areas with living and sleeping spaces.

Either way, the views are mesmerizing, spanning from the colorful ‘palazzata’ (or row of slim buildings facing the seafront), to the Marina, to the exotic Palmaria Island. The suite also features a beautiful full marble bathroom with luxury toiletries.

As travel writer Richard Bangs (Huffington Post) put it when he voted Grand Hotel Portovenere as one of the World’s Best Hotels for a Fall Break:

[the Instagramification of travel pics makes] everything more ridiculously luscious than anything in unfiltered real life. These days I rarely find an actual view that matches its photos. The Grand Hotel is the exception. Opening the floor-to-ceiling French windows, on the third floor, I look out to what no Renaissance painter ever adequately rendered, the hyper-blue Portovenere Bay, its bawdy harbor, and the marine gateway to the Cinque Terre.

A Luxury Travel Blog was voted Best Travel Influencer by WIRED magazine (among many other accolades). This blog focuses on the finer aspects of travel and serves as a gateway for the discerning traveller, providing information on the most luxurious hotels and the finest restaurants around the world.

Sea View Hotel in Liguria - Portovenere Grand Hotel

Grand Hotel Portovenere is located on the most panoramic point of Portovenere, directly overlooking the sea and Palmaria Island. In the XVII century, the structure was home to a Franciscan monastery or ‘convento’ and was transformed into a hotel in 1970. After careful renovations with special attention to maintaining the original architectural features, revisiting them in a modern way to provide guests with maximum comfort, Grand Hotel Portovenere has reopened its doors in 2014 with its new design and understated elegance.

Grand Hotel enjoys the ideal location for visiting the Gulf of Poets and Cinque Terre in eastern Liguria. Ferries depart from the port right beside the hotel, which also offers its guests the chance to hire its own motorboat. If the ferry service is suspended in case of rough sea or bad weather, the boutique hotel also provides a transfer service with a courtesy car to/from La Spezia Station, where trains depart for Cinque Terre and surroundings.
