The third edition of the Italian Oyster Fest will be held in La Spezia on 16, 17 and 18 May 2025.
Held along the stunning Passeggiata Morin, this free event welcomes everyone—experts, enthusiasts, families, and the simply curious—for three days of tastings, insights, and cultural experiences.
Organized for the first time in 2023, it was the first Italian event dedicated to oysters.

Food, Sea, Culture: A Festival Full of Experiences
The festival features a rich program that blends tradition, innovation, and culinary excellence:
- Tasting Area: A large space where Italian oysters (and more!) are made accessible to the public, paired with local wines and craft beers.
- Insights & Conferences: “Oyster Talks” with industry experts, Michelin-starred chefs, and discussions on seafood sustainability and tourism.
- Workshops & Courses: Learn the art of oyster opening and tasting, enjoy cocktail competitions, and bring the little ones for educational activities.
You can discover the program on the official Italian Oyster Fest website.
Beyond Oysters: La Spezia’s Seafood Tradition
While oysters take center stage, La Spezia has a long-standing tradition of seafood excellence. Here, mussels are not just mussels—they are “Muscoli” from La Spezia.
Cultivated in the pristine waters between the Cinque Terre National Park, Magra Park, Lerici, and Palmaria Island, their farming dates back to 1887. Today, local producers continue this age-old craft, using traditional techniques to preserve the region’s unique flavors.
Oyster tour in Portovenere
A stop not to be missed for seafood lovers is the “Oyster Tour” in Portovenere, an experience that Grand Hotel Portovenere offers exclusively to its guests.

It includes a boat tour around Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto islands, a stop at the local oyster farms, and oyster and white wine tasting on board.
